Coming Out of the Spiritual Closet

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.” – Mahatma Gandhi

The Hunt of the Unicorn is a series of seven tapestries that date back between 1495 – 1505. The art tells a story can be viewed as an allegory of the Passion of the Christ, but can also be viewed as the never ending story that defines the uphill climb of awakening during a time when the masses sleep. The unicorn is hunted, found, and eventually killed, only to be resurrected and revered. Sound familiar?

While those of you who are finding your inner “unicorn”, and awakening to Christ consciousness, need not worry about experiencing the dramatic Zeitgeist of the spiritual leaders of days passed. I understand sometimes it can feel as deeply daunting, scary, and isolating to be a “unicorn” in a world filled with “horses”, but you must celebrate the beauty of who you are.

If the sleeping darkness tries to put out your awakened light, it is important to remember that at one point the masses thought the world to be flat, and while others may make you feel “alien” or strange for adopting a new way of thought, you must live by example. Do nothing more than live, be, and lead through your happiness…if others understand, great, if they do not, that is their own karmic destiny, and it is not your job to change anyone. Just be.

Whatever you do, do not be discouraged. Do not go back into the “spiritual closet” and hide because of fear of judgement, it is the time to come out, to live your authentic truth, and to be who you really are…because if not you, then who?

While others bound by the box of belief that surrounds religion await the resurrection of Christ as a person, the savior, the messiah – you brave, beautiful souls that understand Christ as a concept, can already see that Christ has risen in the form of finding the unity consciousness that connects us all, and is free of dogma.

We are alive in historical times, times of great social, technological, spiritual, cultural, and religious change. History is being written each day, and our lasting art is the ancestry we leave behind, by the changes we make within, that affect our outside world. Do not fear this change, and do not have fear for how powerful you really are.

We are all water in the same universal sea, and together we can change the current, move the tide, and find a new flow. Forgive those who do not understand, give love those who judge, be bold, shine bright, laugh in the face of fear, be your own unicorn, come out of the “closet” and flow fluidly into the future.
