Free Your Mind, and the Rest Will Follow

Written by Billy O’Brien

Control is something we should all pay more attention to. What do you control? What controls you? Who controls us? For thousands of years, people have been fighting for control over other people. This concept has led us to where we are in our current sphere as a society. We fight for control over land, policy, people, ideals, morals, etc…but at the end of the day, what do we really have control over?

The only things we can control is our thoughts, and our actions. Once you realize and accept this notion, things will start to fall into place. You will see that the greatest power is letting go of the things that hold us down. This act allows you to rise above and gain a greater perspective.  Your perspective will determine how you were affected by the incident. Did you grow, or were you defeated? This is something YOU have control over. If you view things as lessons, it will allow you to grow stronger roots. If you allow things to defeat you, it will only weigh you down and hold you back.

When you leave it to others to govern and control you, you are surrendering. If you want freedom, you simply need to free yourself of those things that are weighing you down by letting go. This doesn’t mean giving up, it just means that you should stop trying to control the outcome. The cards will fall the way they choose, and it’s up to us to play the hand that is dealt. Do you fold, or do you play? The choice is yours.

It’s easy to be affected by others. We are empathetic beings that have feelings, and we feel others more than we realize. Our minds are the matrix of our thoughts, and these thoughts come into existence when we pay more attention to them. If you can learn to control your thoughts, you can free yourself from the prison of your mind.

If you are thinking negatively, you will have negative results. If you think positively, you will have a positive result. This is one of the laws of the universe that holds true to the microcosm of our mind. We allow so many things to distract us from our chosen path, and it comes down to the choices we make, and how we choose to start our day.

When you wake up in the morning, do you immediately check your phone, e-mail or news? Do you take the time to find balance? Our mind is fueled by what we feed it. Do you feed it fear, stress, and junk? or do you feed it with the opposite? Meditation is key in learning to control your thoughts, and shaping the perspective which you will choose to view each moment. Start the day negatively, and it will end that way. Start the day with peacefulness, gratitude, and love…and the day will end the way it started. The cycles of our day are driven by our actions, and we can choose to break the cycle or resume.

We can all find freedom, and true freedom transcends the material world. To be free of anxiety, fear, and stress is the key to living a happy life. Learning to let go of those thoughts, and those people that feed us these thoughts is the first step. The second step is to walk fearlessly into the unknown, and truly knowing yourself and what you want out of life. When you understand the power of your actions and your mind, you can manifest your dreams and make them your reality. It all comes with practice, and seeing the light when things go dark.
